How would your insurer react if you told them you lost a valuable watch, necklace or earrings whilst abroad? Does your policy allow you to travel with these items? Are they covered for their full replacement value?

Jewellery is designed to be worn and it is theft attractive so it may not surprise you to learn that insurers consider these as separate considerations to your General Contents and will require separate cover.

Similarly, paintings, sculptures or even photographic prints may not be covered by your existing home insurance. These would usually require to be specifically listed for cover to be in place and this can be time consuming and onerous for a larger collection.
